| Mimi: Klein family | | I tried to post this message a few days ago but don't see it listed. It regards the Klein family (David and Sarah Weiss) of Felso-Keked. Sarah had a brother who was a travel agent but Sarah and David and their family were the only Jews in the village. I don't know where they were originally from. They owned a farm and inn. David died during or shortly after WWI. They had five children: my grandmother, Ethel, born in 1883, who came to the U.S. in 1903; Alex (Sandor), who came to the U.S. later in 1903; Hermina and Ilon who perished in Auschwitz; another son who died in WWI as a litter-bearer. Hermina was married but I don't know her married name. She had children but, again, I don't know their names. I know that one son or grandson survived Auschwitz and died soon after the war. One son-in-law survived and returned to Felso-Keked. He sold the farm and inn and left the area for Czechoslovakia or Israel. I don't know his name either. I would like to hear from anyone who might have been familiar with this family or with a local inn. Supposedly soldiers came there or to the area for rest and recreation in the late 1800's and perhaps the 1900's. |
